Dynasty Financial Partners has hired Joseph D'Agostino to serve as its head of strategic development, the firm said Wednesday, noting he will help strengthen its fast-growing wealth management platform.

D'Agostino joins Dynasty from WestEnd Advisors, where he was chief operating officer. Before that, he was a senior vice president at American Century Investments and a managing director at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.

D'Agostino will be based in St. Petersburg, Florida and report directly to Dynasty President and CEO Shirl Penney. He has 35 years of industry experience, mainly on the brokerage side of the business; he moved to investment management side in 2012.

"Having worked with Joe in the past at Citi/Smith Barney, I am delighted to welcome him to Dynasty," according to Penney. "As an industry veteran with a remarkably diverse and accomplished background, he brings a depth of ultra-high-net-worth client and product wealth management experience to our Network Advisors," Penney said in the announcement.

As head of strategic development, D'Agostino will work across Dynasty to align the firm's long-term strategy with that of its clients. That will help Dynasty and its clients "accelerate the growth of enterprise value through utilization of the firm's technology platforms, investment offerings and capital solutions," the company said in a press release.

He also will focus on Dynasty's Advisor-to-CEO program, which provides network advisors with tools and training to develop as leaders and CEOs of their growing businesses, according to the firm.

D'Agostino, who was "extremely excited to join" Dynasty," added in a statement that "as the independent advisor space continues to expand, I am confident Dynasty will continue to build on an incredible track record of client-focused innovation."
