AmeriLife Group has named Barbara Stewart to be president of the company's AmeriLife Benefits unit.
Stewart previously was the Clearwater, Florida-based insurance distributor's executive vice president for marketing and strategy.
Stewart succeeds Randy Clarkson. She will be based in Overland Park, Kansas.
Stewart has a bachelor's degree from the University of Delaware and a master's degree in business from Cornell. She holds the Certified Financial Planner professional designation.
Before she joined AmeriLife, she was president of Washington National Insurance Company, an arm of CNO Financial Group.
From 2009 through 2019, she was president of HOPE, a nonprofit organization that supports medical research and medical research communications efforts.

TruChoice Financial Group, Minneapolis, an insurance distributor, has hired Jim Maietta to be head of sales and chief distribution officer.
Maietta previously was a senior vice president at Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America. He is also the immediate past chairman of the National Association for Fixed Annuities.
He has a bachelor's degree from Marquette University. He got his start in insurance as a field director with Prudential Financial.
Jackson National Life Insurance Company, Lansing, Michigan, has hired Liz Werner to be senior vice president, investor relations.
She previously was head of investor relations at American International Group.
