Legal & General America has hired Dawn Boitnott to be chief underwriter and underwriting transformation officer. Boitnott previously was the vice president of underwriting at SCOR Global Life Americas for Velogica, SCOR Global Life's automated underwriting rules engine. Before that, she was a production underwriter at Shenandoah Life Insurance and at American International Group. Boitnott has a bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech. She holds the Fellow, Academy of Life Underwriting, and the Fellow, Life Management Institute designations, along with the Associate, Reinsurance Administration, and Associate, Customer Service, professional designations. She served on the executive council of the Association of Home Office Underwriters from 2015 through 2019. In other personnel moves news: Anthem Inc., Indianapolis, has hired Beth Keyser to be president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Indiana. Keyser previously was president of Bright Health Plan Solutions' Create health plans unit in New York. She also has worked for Healthways. She has a bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and a master's degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She got her start in health insurance at Gordian Health Solutions in the Nashville, Tennessee area. The Delta Dental Plans Association, Oak Brook, Illinois, has promoted Scot Jessee to be chief information officer. Jessee has been the nonprofit organization's vice president of information technology. The Delta Dental Plans Association represents 39 separate Delta Dental dental insurance companies. Schechter, Birmingham, Michigan, has hired Alfredo Risi to be chief operating officer and integrator. Risi previously was executive director at HighTower Advisors in New York. He also has been the COO at Fischer & Co. L.P., a company acquired by HighTower, and an assistant vice president at MetLife. Risi has a bachelor's degree in economics from the Universidad of Lima and a master's degree in business from the University of Chicago. Schechter has also hired Max Hunt to be an investment associate and Kevin Giganti to be a senior insurance analyst. Hunt previously worked as a research analyst and portfolio manager at Millennium Management and Neuberger Berman. He has a bachelor's degree in finance, and insurance and risk management, from the University of Pennsylvania. Giganti has been director of case design and marketing for Advisor Solutions, in Atlanta. He has a bachelor's degree from Kennesaw State University. The Standard, Portland, Oregon, has promoted Kirsten Schmieding to retirement plan consultant, from retirement plan consultant associate. Schmieding is based in Dallas and will work with advisors in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
