The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America has announced that Andrew McMahon will be succeeding Deanna Mulligan as the chief executive officer at the end of the year. (Related: LICONY President to Retire: Personnel Matters) Mulligan is retiring after spending a decade in her current role, the company said. Mulligan began working for Guardian in 2008, as the head of the individual life and disability business. She became the company's president in November 2010, and the CEO in July 2011. McMahon began working for Guardian in 2017 as the company's executive vice president, strategy and customer development. He became the company's president in November 2019. McMahon has a bachelor's degree from Fairfield University and a master's degree in business from Columbia. Guardian has also hired Kermitt Brooks to be executive vice president and general counsel, and it has named Margherita DiManni to be the company's deputy general counsel. Brooks previously was the general counsel at AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company. He has also been first deputy superintendent at the old New York State Insurance Department. DiManni has worked for Guardian for 22 years. She has been serving as the company's interim general counsel. DiManni is a director of Guardian Investor Services LLC, a holding company for Guardian's fee-based businesses, and Broadshore Capital Partners LLC, a Guardian real estate investment management affiliate. In other personnel matters news: Venerable Holdings Inc. has hired Lee Barnard to be vice president and senior counsel, and it has promoted Brad Laskowski, its program management director, to vice president. Venerable is a West Chester, Pennsylvania-based company that owns and manages blocks of variable annuity business. Barnard previously was executive director and assistant general counsel at Franklin Square Holdings L.P. He has a bachelor's degree from Emory University and a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Laskowski came to Venerable when Venerable acquired a block of variable annuity business from Voya Financial Inc. He has a bachelor's degree from Ursinus College. Everyday Life Inc. has hired John Richter to be chief distribution officer. Everyday Life is an Andover, Massachusetts-based digital life insurance agency that helps banks, credit unions and other financial institutions offer life insurance. Richter previously was national business development director at VantisLife Insurance Company. He has a bachelor's degree from Charleston Southern University. ConventBridge Group Ltd. has hired Robin Rogers to be general counsel. CoventBridge is a Jacksonville, Florida-based private investigations firm that works with insurers. Rogers previously was senior legal counsel at the Adecco Group.
