Chris Conroy is the 2020 chairman of the National Association of Fixed Annuities, NAFA announced today.

Conroy succeeds Jim Maietta as chair.

Conroy previously was head of annuity sales at North American Company for Life and Health Insurance. He has a bachelor's degree from Northwestern, a law degree from Washburn University, and a master's degree in business from the University of Kansas.

The other 2020 board leaders are Lauri Beck, vice chair; Heather Kane, secretary; and Mike Morrone, treasurer.

Charles DiVencenzo continues to be NAFA's president.

NAFA may be best known for its effort to keep the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission from regulating indexed annuities that are filed as non-variable insurance products as securities.

In recent years, NAFA has been active in efforts to fight the U.S. Department of Labor's fiduciary rule, and to shape other new financial services sales standards efforts.
