TD Ameritrade Institutional has agreed to offer a variable annuity from Jackson National Life Insurance Company to independent RIAs.

The fee-based annuity, the Perspective Advisory II contract, gives advisors the flexibility to develop their own portfolios, rather than locking clients in to using prepackaged asset-allocation options, according to Jackson.

Jackson says its operations team will support TD Ameritrade's consultants.

TD Ameritrade Institutional will provide the annuities through The Insurance Agency of TD Ameritrade LLC, to clients of independent RIAs who use TD Ameritrade Institutional custody services.

In September, Jackson said it expected to offer the Perspective Advisory II annuity and other contracts through the Envestnet Insurance Exchange program.
