State lawmakers with an interest in insurance have picked their 2017-2018 officers, and to rename their group.
The National Conference of Insurance Legislators agreed last week in Phoenix, at NCOIL's annual meeting, to make Arkansas state Sen. Jason Rapert, R-Conway, Ark., the 2017-2018 president.
Rapert will succeed Kentucky state Rep. Steve Riggs.
NCOIL also named Vermont state Rep. Bill Botzow to be vice president; Indiana state Rep. Matt Lehman, treasurer; and California state Assemblymember Kenneth Cooley, secretary, according to a meeting summary provided by NCOIL.
Tom Considine continues to be NCOIL's chief executive officer.
In other NCOIL news, members of NCOIL's bylaws committee voted to change NCOIL's name to the "National Council of Legislators," because of a sense that the word "council" better reflects the fact that the group has members from all 50 states.
