Raymond James & Associates announced it recruited a father-son team from Merrill Lynch.

John R. Edgecomb Sr. and his son John Robb Edgecomb Jr. recently joined the Austin-Barton Hills office of Raymond James & Associates supported by Austin Complex Manager Kirk Price.

The pair, former Merrill Lynch advisors who managed close to $200 million in client assets, will operate as The Edgecomb Group of Raymond James.

They are joined by Evette Mock-Hernandez, a senior investment portfolio analyst, and Mia Salomon, a senior registered client service associate.

Edgecomb Jr., who will also serve as the manager of the Austin-Barton Hills branch, said that when they were looking for a new firm, they wanted a firm with "strong values" and "a commitment to put the clients' interests first."

"Raymond James not only values the advisor-client relationship but also embraces a high level of trust," Edgecomb Jr. said in a statement. "This is a key ingredient in providing clients a first-class level of service. It was exciting to learn that additionally, the firm supports us with cutting-edge technology, extremely efficient systems, and a great service-first attitude."

Edgecomb Sr. added that he has been impressed with the ease and efficiency of all of the firm's systems.

"The trading platform, the bond desk, the powerful Goal Planning & Monitoring software, all help us generate our custom portfolio models and client reports. It's been delightfully easy to acclimate," he said in a statement. "We consider it a differentiator for our clients."

Edgecomb Sr., whose title will be senior vice president of investments, began his financial services career in 1980 at Merrill Lynch where he remained for 37 years. Edgecomb Jr., whose title will be first vice president of investments, began his financial services career in 2005 with Merrill Lynch and partnered with his father after graduating early from the training program in 2007.
