MetLife Inc. has hired Susan Podlogar to be an executive vice president, chief human resources officer.

Podlogar previously was global vice president of human resources at the medical devices division at Johnson & Johnson. She also was vice president for worldwide total rewards and performance at the parent company.

Podlogar went to work for Johnson & Johnson in 2003, after spending time in human resources at two pharmaceutical companies.

In 1987, right after Podlogar earned a master's degree in business from the University of South Florida, she worked as an analyst and consultant at Mercer.

Mercer is now a member of the certification commission at the Society for Human Resource Management. The commission helps oversee SHRM certification programs.

Five years ago, Insigniam featured Podlogar in a video about the firm's approach to enterprise performance consulting.
