Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens has picked Chlora Lindley-Myers to be the Show Me State's next head of insurance regulation.
Lindley-Myers is now the acting director of the state's Department of Insurance, Financial Professional Registration. She is waiting for the state Senate to confirm her nomination.
Lindley-Myers has been the deputy commissioner at the Tennessee Department of Commerce.
Lindley-Myers has a bachelor's degree from Mount Holyoke College and a law degree from the University of Connecticut.
She worked at the life insurance unit at Hartford, Connecticut-based Aetna Inc. She later worked as chief compliance officer at the Kentucky Department of Insurance, and as a property-casualty regulator at the Missouri department.
The National Association of Insurance Commissioners gave Lindley-Myers an outstanding service award in 2015. The insurance regulator group said she had helped oversee the shift toward principles-based reserving, or use of statistical forecasting methods, rather than pre-set formulas, to decide what reserves an insurer needs to back its policies.
