New Benchmark: ICE

A group of widely held U.S. Treasury bond ETFs from Blackrock is switching benchmarks.

The iShares 1-3 Year Treasury Bond ETF (SHY), iShares 3-7 Year Treasury Bond ETF (IEI), iShares 7-10 Year Treasury Bond ETF (IEF) and iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (TLT) will be linked to the ICE US Treasury Bond Index Series beginning in the second quarter. The new bond yardsticks are indexes are managed by Interactive Data, a subsidiary of the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).

"Customers are increasingly relying on Interactive Data's trusted evaluated pricing to support their risk and collateral management, benchmarking, and trading requirements."

The iShares U.S. Treasury bond funds have combined assets near $36 billion and are among the most popular taxable U.S. bond ETFs.
