New Hire Roundup: SEC Names Regional Director in Salt Lake City

This week in personnel announcements and new hires, the SEC named Richard Best regional director of the Salt Lake office; U.S. Trust announced nine additions across the country; Pensionmark added a Cleveland, Ohio office; and Craig Watanabe joined Core Compliance & Legal Services.

Also, the Phoenix Cos. announced four staff promotions; Revzon Consulting named Arthur Ridolfi; Tennis pro Andy Murray teamed up with Seedrs; and Van Luu joined Russell Investments.

SEC Names New Salt Lake Regional Director

The SEC has announced that it has named Richard Best regional director of the Salt Lake office. He succeeds Karen Martinez, who is retiring at the end of the month.

Best joins from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority in New York, where he is a senior director and chief counsel in its department of enforcement. Earlier, he spent approximately 10 years as a prosecutor in the office of the Bronx County District Attorney.

U.S. Trust Announces Additions

U.S. Trust has announced nine additions to its wealth management business across the country.

Thomas Cattell has joined the Portland, Maine office as a private client advisor from Black Point Capital Management; Kristella Capurso joined the Boston office as a private client manager from Merrill Lynch; in New York, Jean-Philippe Mourra and Alex Li joined as private client managers from Citigroup Private Bank; Linda Stahl joined in Houston, Texas as a market trust executive from BBVA Compass; in Troy, Michigan, Peggy Rancilio joined as a senior trust officer from JPMorgan Chase and Ahmed Siaje joined as a private client advisor from the consumer retail division of Bank of America; Bill Vlahos joined the San Francisco office as a private client advisor from Odyssey Value Advisors LLC; and John Karns joined the Denver, Colorado office as a portfolio manager from ReOil Energy.

Wright Consulting Affiliates With Pensionmark

Pensionmark Financial Group has announced that Wright Consulting Partners LLC has joined as an affiliated office in Cleveland.

Gary Wright, managing director at Wright Consulting, has served as an advisor for retirement plan sponsors and individual wealth management clients for 20 years.

Watanabe Joins Core Compliance

Core Compliance & Legal Services Inc. has announced that Craig Watanabe has joined as a senior compliance consultant.

Watanabe is a financial advisor; formerly he served as chief operations officer and chief compliance officer at Penniall & Associates in Pasadena, California. Phoenix Cos. Announces Promotions

The Phoenix Cos. Inc. announced four promotions in its product and operations division. Joleen Speight was promoted to vice president, enterprise services, reporting to Thomas Buckingham, executive vice president, product and operations. Matthew Heaphy and Craig Michaud were promoted to second VP and actuary, reporting to Dana Pederson, VP and product officer. Nancy Turner was promoted to second VP, life and annuity agent services and life new business; she reports to Scott Scheutz, VP, growth delivery and operations.

Speight joined in 1993 in the mutual fund services division. Most recently, she was second VP, enterprise services. Heaphy joined in 2007 as an actuarial student and has worked in annuity hedging and product development. Michaud joined in 2005 as an actuarial student; previously he worked in the robotics division for Meritage Manufacturing Solutions. Turner joined in 2008 as an assistant VP; previously she was a director, annuity business compliance, for The Hartford.

Revzon Consulting Names Ridolfi

Trust and retirement services firm Revzon Consulting Group LLC, has announced that it has appointed Arthur Ridolfi senior vice president of trust sales.

With 30 years of experience, Ridolfi was formerly at Thomson Reuters, where he spent 14 years, most recently as an executive sales manager. Prior to that he worked as marketing manager and regional sales manager for National Computer Systems, a trust accounting vendor (acquired by SunGard), and as VP of trust operations for a Connecticut bank.

Murray Teams Up With Seedrs

Tennis champion Andy Murray has entered a long-term partnership arrangement with London, U.K.-based equity crowdfunding platform Seedrs.

Murray will serve on the advisory board and provide the firm with advice with respect to businesses working in the health, sport and wearable technology spaces.

Luu Joins Russell Investments

Russell Investments has announced that Van Luu has joined as head of currency and fixed income strategy. He will be based in London and report to Andrew Pease, global head of investment strategy.

Luu joins from Norges Bank Investment Management, where he was a senior analyst for investment policy and allocation strategies. Prior to this he spent three years as a strategy team member at Russell Investments.
