Edward Jones has been recognized by CivilianJobs.com as a 2015 Most Valuable Employer for Military thanks to its efforts to recruit and train military veterans as financial advisors, the firm announced on Thursday.

St. Louis-based Edward Jones has won the award from CivilianJobs.com, an online recruiter that helps veterans transition from military to civilian careers, for the last four years.

"As a firm focused on recruiting, training and retaining quality financial advisors, we are proud to be continually recognized as a Most Valuable Employer for Military by CivilianJobs.com, an organization that shares our deep rooted dedication to providing mentorship and training services to servicemen and women," Jim Weddle, managing partner of Edward Jones, said in a statement.

"We're excited to celebrate this designation in recognition of Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day later this month, along with the three-year anniversary of our FORCES program," Weddle added.

Armed Forces Day is May 16, and Memorial Day is May 25.

FORCES is Edward Jones' training program for veterans within five years of separating from service, reservists and some non-military personnel. The firm hired 471 veterans as financial advisors in 2014, and so far in 2015 has hired some 160. About 11% of Edward Jones advisors have served in the military.

Edward Jones was also recognized by G.I. Jobs on its 2015 "Military Friendly Employer" list.
