New Hire Roundup: Putnam Names Gould Head of Institutional Management

This week in personnel announcements and new hires, the FPA hired George Bradley as its director of professional development; Jane Kanter was named chief operating officer at ARK Investment Management; Independent Financial Partners welcomed Louis Hanna; Jeffrey Gould joined Putnam Investments; and U.S. Bank Wealth Management welcomed five.

Also, Robb Ruhr moved up at Analytic Investors; Darrel Hackett was named president of BMO Private Bank; Mariner Wealth Advisors added three; and Ken Cochrane joined LIMRA.

Putnam Names Gould Head of Global Institutional Management

Putnam Investments has announced that Jeffrey Gould has joined as head of global institutional management. Based in Boston, he will report directly to Robert Reynolds, president and CEO, and will join the firm's operating committee.

Gould joins from Lazard Asset Management, where he has served as managing director, head of U.S. institutional marketing. Prior to that, he was managing director and global head of distribution for Citigroup Alternative Investments. Earlier, he served as president of Renaissance Institutional Management. From 1988 to 2005, he held a series of senior positions within the institutional business at Putnam Investments, culminating as managing director, head of institutional distribution. Earlier in his career, he held institutional sales positions at Citicorp Investment Management and Value Line Asset Management.

Mariner Wealth Advisors Adds Ex-NFL Quarterback, 2 Others

Mariner Wealth Advisors has announced the addition of Sarah Tiedt, Mark Vlasic and Jeff Maher as senior wealth advisors.

Mark Vlasic has more than 20 years of experience and was previously a director at McGladrey Wealth Management. His experience also includes positions at Enterprise Trust and UMB Bank. Prior to joining the financial services industry, Vlasic spent seven years as an NFL quarterback.

Sarah Tiedt joins from the Private Client Reserve of U.S. Bank, where she was a wealth management advisor and vice president. She also has experience as a trust officer with Commerce Trust Co. and Blue Ridge Bank and Trust Co.

 Jeff Maher has more than 25 years of industry experience and joins from MFS Fund Distributors, where he was a regional director. Prior to that, he served as regional vice president at MetLife Investors.

Bradley Joins FPA as Director of Professional Development

The Financial Planning Association has announced that George Bradley has joined as director of professional development.

With more than 20 years of experience in leading professional learning teams, projects and programs, Bradley joins from Charles Schwab & Co., where he worked as the learning measurement and evaluation manager. Prior to that, he was vice president of learning and performance at TeleTech Holdings Inc. from 2004 to 2009 and director of global content management and education services at J.D. Edwards from 1995 to 2004. Both are based in Englewood, Colorado.

ARK Investment Management Names Kanter COO

Jane Kanter has been named COO of ARK Investment Management.

With over 30 years of experience, Kanter joins from international law firm Dechert LLP, where she worked for over 17 years as a senior partner in the firm's financial services group. Prior to that, she was in private practice specializing in corporate and securities law for more than a decade. Before that, she was vice president and legal counsel at T. Rowe Price and Associates and special counsel and head of the disclosure study in the SEC's division of investment management.

Hanna Joins IFP

Independent Financial Partners (IFP) has announced that Louis Hanna has joined as director of recruiting.

Hanna has 25 years of financial services industry experience, including senior level positions with Conduit Advisors, ING Furman Selz, Corigin Holdings, Paradigm Multi-Strategy Funds and American Independence Funds.

U.S. Bank Wealth Management Adds Four in Chicago, One in Cincinnati

U.S. Bank Wealth Management has announced that Debora Oberling has been appointed wealth management advisor team lead, Teresa Seiwert and Steven Greene have been appointed wealth management advisors and Nancy Brackman has been named senior trust officer, all for the Private Client Reserve in Chicago. In addition, David Hein has been hired as a portfolio manager for the Private Client Reserve in Cincinnati.

Oberling brings more than 30 years of financial services experience, including several leadership roles with JPMorgan Chase. Prior to joining, she was a managing director and market manager for J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Chicago.

Seiwert has over 30 years of financial services industry experience. Her previous position was vice president and private client relationship manager with U.S. Bank. She also held positions with Ridgestone Bank and Amcore Bank.

Greene brings over 28 years of experience within the banking and financial services industry. Prior to joining, he was with Rappaport Reiches Capital Management LLC, where he provided financial advisory services to high-net-worth clients. He also held senior positions at J.P. Morgan Private Bank, Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs.

Brackmann brings over 19 years of financial services industry to her new post. Prior to joining, she was a vice president and fiduciary officer with J.P. Morgan.

Hein served as an acquisition program manager with the U.S. Air Force.

Analytic Investors Appoints Ruhr

Analytic Investors Inc. has announced that Robb Ruhr has been named director, consultant relations and business development. He will report to George Matthews, head of consultant relations and business development.

Ruhr has 15 years of industry experience. He began his career at UBS and was most recently a vice president of institutional sales at GE Asset Management.

BMO Private Bank Names Hackett President

BMO Financial Group has announced that Darrel Hackett was named president of BMO Private Bank.

Hackett has served in a variety of leadership roles since joining BMO in 2004, most recently as senior vice president and head of North American integrated channels. He has also led BMO Harris Bank's business banking operations in the U.S., and served as a regional president for the retail operation in Chicago and earlier as vice president, acquisition, integration and alignment. Prior to that, he was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company in Chicago and held a variety of management roles at General Electric Co.

Cochrane Joins LIMRA

Ken Cochrane has joined LIMRA as vice president of developmental and commercial research, a new position.

Cochrane started his career at Mutual Benefit Life, and was later senior vice president of national sales and marketing for Transamerica Retirement Services. His most recent role was as managing director of Pulse Logic, a market research and consulting company he founded in 2008.
