Many full-time employees qualify for Medicaid. Traditional employer plans with high deductibles, co-pays and coinsurance are not always the most appropriate plan design for this population. When PPACA's Medicaid Expansion provisions became law, Benestream Founder and CEO Ben Geyerhahn and his team saw the shift as an opportunity to shape a system to facilitate identifying those employees and assist with their enrollment in Medicaid.

Medicaid's plan design provides these employees and their families with a more suitable benefit plan which keeps them out of the emergency rooms and includes benefits to keep them healthier throughout the year. Armed with a deep knowledge of the public benefits sector and a grant from The Ford Foundation, brokers can now bring this value-added service to their clients. Employees fare better and employers recognize significant savings — all while complying with PPACA.

I've invited Ben to talk about how Benestream has shaped the shift with their distinctive methodologies and tools. We also discuss how brokers can begin client conversations and help create higher employee satisfaction and differentiate themselves in the marketplace. Finally, we discuss what Ben sees in the future, including his belief that the number of Medicaid Expansion states will continue to increase.
