New Planner Recruiting announced the winners of its inaugural CFP Exam Scholarship for 2014 on Tuesday.
The prize this year goes to three recipients: Jamie Engelken from Kansas State University, and Joseph Stallings and Peter Geckeler from the University of Georgia.
Candidates were chosen based on their demonstrated passion for the financial planning profession, performance in their academic careers, and commitment to the CFP certification, according to the selection committee — Geoffrey Brown, CEO of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors; Michael Branham, Chairman of the Financial Planning Association; and Caleb Brown, founding partner of New Planner Recruiting.
"The Certified Financial Planner (CFP) mark is the pinnacle of the planning profession and those who work to attain it are in a position to serve their clients with competency and distinction, and I was honored to participate in the selection process and in seeing where Jamie, Joseph and Peter's careers go from here," stated Branham in a news release.
This scholarship program is intended to encourage the next generation of financial planners to pursue CFP certification. Each of the winners will receive a $600 merit-based CFP certification examination reimbursement scholarship.
