Morningstar released its list of nominees for the'13 U.S. Fund Manager of the Year awards. The research group says it nominates managers based on "impressive performance," as well as "excellent long-term risk-adjusted returns" and other factors.

Domestic: William Martindale and Robert Mitchell, Conestoga Small Cap; team, Dodge and Cox Stock; Dennis Lynch and team, Morgan Stanley Focus Growth, Growth, Mid-Cap Growth and Small-Company Growth; Harry Burn, John DeGulis and Gibb Kane, Sound Shore Fund; and Larry Puglia, T. Rowe Price Blue Chip Growth.

International: Daniel O'Keefe and David Samra, Artisan International Value and Global Value; Mark Yockey and team, Artisan International; Sarah Ketterer, Harry Hartford and team, Causeway International Value; team, Dodge and Cox International Stock; and David Herro and Rob Taylor, Oakmark International.

Fixed Income: Team, Dodge and Cox Income; Matt Eagan, Dan Fuss and Elaine Stokes, Loomis Sayles Bond; Stephen Kane, Laird Landmann and Tad Rivelle, Metropolitan West Total Return Bond; Daniel J. Ivascyn and Alfred T. Murata, PIMCO Income; and Mark Vaselkiv, T. Rowe Price High-Yield.
