In June, a federal judge ruled Fox Searchlight broke employment laws for not paying interns. Interns at Conde Nast magazine filed a suit two days later. Congress has long used interns throughout its offices, but are they concerned about any kind of backlash from interns who are not paid? No. That's because Congress exempts itself from regular intern rules under the Congressional Accountability Act. Rather interesting when you consider that any changes in intern legislation will come from Congress.
