Fact-free ‘middle-out’ economics

Did the flawed policies of President Reagan trigger the economic avalanche that befell us in 2008? According to President Obama's speech at Knox College last week that is what happened. Do we need to re-establish the mutually beneficial ties that brought together big business, big labor and big government?
