Big weight loss for diabetics, but no drop in heart risk

In a study that lasted 10 years, people with Type 2 diabetes lost weight and kept it off. The assumption was that losing weight would protect them from heart attacks, strokes or angina.  The assumption was incorrect and the study was stopped early. Researchers are quick to point out that losing weight has a slew of other health benefits even if it doesn't do the one thing they set out to show.
