Slowdown in health spending buys Medicare more time

The prognosis wasn't good. It was terminal. Experts gave it until 2024. But thanks to a slowdown in health spending, Medicare will be able to 100 percent of benefits through 2026. This slowdown certainly is not a fountain of youth; trustees say the program is still facing significant shortfalls. An act of Washington is about all that can save Medicare.
