A group of UCLA researchers examined 15 studies that tracked 2,500 children with ADHD to find out if taking medication for their disorder (namely Ritalin) left the children more prone to substance abuse as they age than those who were not on the medication. They found that children who take ADHD medication are not at a greater risk of substance abuse than those who do not.
