Startups in the life and health insurance industries can access crowdsource support in the recently launched New England Life & Health Insurance Startup Community.

Maria Thompson, FSA, founded the community, with a LinkedIn group of the same name, to engage people in the industry, establish new entrepreneurial businesses, support their growth and help attract investors.

"The life and health industry is in tremendous need of new ideas and approaches to doing business," Thomson said. "However, entrepreneurs in this space have encountered severe obstacles to becoming successfully established. By sharing ideas and resources, we'll help them overcome those hurdles and stimulate industry growth."

Wilton Re of Wilton, Conn., and Farmington Capital Partners, of Hartford, Conn., have joined the community.

"Firms do not have to be located in New England to become a part of the community," Thomson said. The community can be joined through its LinkedIn group, New England Life & Health Insurance Startup Community, or by contacting Thomson at [email protected]
