If you're more successful than your friends and family around you, chances are it's because of choices you've made. Increase the scale of comparison, however, and it becomes more about who your parents are. Educated parents are more likely to educate their own kids. Low-level or C-level, 40 percent of children end up working at the same company as their father, so it should come as no surprise that one-third of successions between CEOs in publically traded companies in the U.S. involves a family relation.
