UnitedHealth to hire 600 in North Carolina

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — The largest private U.S. health insurer says it will add another 600 new customer service, claims processing, and nursing jobs in North Carolina this year.

Officials at UnitedHealth Group Inc. (NYSE:UNH) said Tuesday that most of the jobs will be in the company's Greensboro office.

The Minnesota-based company said it will be expanding its North Carolina hiring by about 1,000 positions and has recently hired several hundred people.

The company now employs about 4,000 people in the Tar Heel State.

Health insurance is UnitedHealth's largest business.

The company also has divisions that sell information technology services and pharmacy benefits management.

UnitedHealth also is the largest provider of Medicare Advantage plans.
