Transamerica names president, CEO of brokerage distribution unit

Transamerica's Life & Protection (L&P) Division promoted Michael Babikian to president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Transamerica Brokerage, a distribution unit of L&P that markets and sells life and long-term care (LTC) products.

Babikian previously served as executive vice president, chief marketing officer, brokerage, and chief product officer for L&P. He replaces Marty Flewellen, who was promoted to chief distribution officer of L&P.

Before joining Transamerica, Babikian was the general counsel at Infinite Source Technologies, Inc., an attorney for the tax law firm of Baker, Olson, LeCroy & Danielian, and a tax specialist in KPMG's multi-family office.

Babikian now serves as a board member of the Chief Marketing Officer Council; chairman of the board and professor at Glendale University; and member of the University of Southern California Marshall Corporate Advisory Board. He also serves as chairman of the board of directors of the Children's Music Fund.

Babikian has a bachelor's degree from the University of California at Irvine and a law degree from the University of the Pacific. He earned a Master of Laws in taxation at the University of San Diego and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Southern California.
