Prospecting can be tough going. One call fades into the next; you feel like you're saying the same thing over and over again. Before long, even you get bored with yourself—and then you start wondering if it's all worth it. And that attitude doesn't help you or your prospective customers.

Here are some cold call motivation tips I've used to keep up my sales productivity.

  • Play games with yourself. Give yourself challenges. Focus on accomplishing something you haven't done before. (I used to do this all the time and it worked wonders on my psyche.)
  • Try something new. See if you can find more effective ways to get better results. Experiment with your approach. (By doing this, I really did get better at selling.)
  • Work in bursts. Take regular breaks, walk around, clear your head. Then come back and throw yourself in for another hour. This keeps your energy up and it's good for you.

The next time you find yourself in a cold calling rut, try these tips to keep up your energy and focus.
