BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho's Board of Education says it will consider changes to its requirement that full-time public college and university students purchase health insurance through their schools.
During a special meeting Friday afternoon, board spokeswoman Marilyn Whitney says trustees will consider removing the portion of their policy that requires students who don't have health insurance to purchase a policy through their school.
Whitney says the board is also considering eliminating the part of the policy that requires students who are already insured to have a policy that is equivalent to the coverage they would receive through their respective university or college.
The board considered temporarily removing the insurance requirement in April as schoolinsurance premiums spiked but rejected that proposal, saying the risk of having uninsured students outweighed the increased cost.
