Policy issues that affect older people are the focus of a new class at the University of Minnesota.

The university's public health school has introduced Gero 5100-003 Aging Policy, a seminar that will give students a chance to produce a paper on an elder policy issue.

Each student also will develop and lead a class session on the topic chosen.

The topics could include long-term care, Medicare, Medicaid, employment discrimination, end-of-life issues, or other issues, the university says

The Center on Aging, the public health school arm that will run the seminar, pulls resources from many different University of Minnesota colleges and schools, including the medical school, the nursing school, the kinesiology school, and the social work school.
