The Life Insurance Settlement Association (LISA), during their 18 Annual Spring Conference which was held in Philadelphia on May 21-23, gave Kentucky State Representative Robert Damron their "Legislator of the Year" award.
LISA's Executive Director Darwin Bayston said, "We are fortunate to have the continued support of Representative Damron and appreciate his strong support for consumers, for whom the secondary market is so very important."
On the second day of the conference Damron held a discussion with attendees on how legislative action and regulatory oversight could ameliorate the challenges that the secondary market faces from carriers. He noted that although the secondary market is currently regulated in 40 states there are still obstacles to overcome.
Dr. Howard Friedman, Professor of Psychology at the University of California and co-author of The Longevity Project spoke with conference attendees about psychological factors such as predictors of life expectancy and how they impact the human psyche and therefore potentially the life settlement industry.
