Life Insurance Settlement Association Taps Coventry First CEO Alan Buerger as Chairman

The Life Insurance Settlement Association is shaking up its leadership, naming Alan Buerger, CEO of Coventry First, LLC, as chairman of its board and one of six new board members.

The group of new board members will also constitute a majority of what will now be an 11-member board. The new members were elected at a members' meeting held Monday in Philadelphia.

Besides Buerger, also elected to the board were Nate Evans, president and CEO of Maple Life Financial Inc.; Mike Fasano, president, Fasano Associates; Vince Granieri, CFO and actuary of 21st Services; Phil Loy, co-founder, AVS Underwriting, LLC; and Paul Siegert, chairman and president of GWG Life Settlements, LLC.

Siegert will serve as LISA vice chairman. Phil Loy will serve as treasurer and Brian Casey, a current board member and a partner at Locke Lord, as secretary. Darwin Bayston continues to serve as president and CEO.

Buerger also announced that the Bryan Freeman, Habersham Funding, LLC, will serve as chairman of LISA's External Affairs Committee will be. Other members of the committee will be Michael Freedman and Nate Evans. Additional LISA members will be added in the coming weeks, Buerger said.

Retained board members include Adam Balinsky, Managing Member, Jabrem Consulting, LLC; Brian Casey, Partner, Locke Lord LLP; Rob Haynie, managing director, Life Insurance Settlements, Inc.; Jim Maxson, a parter at Morris Manning & Martin, LLP; and Jon Mendelsohn, president and CEO of Ashar Group, LLC
