The advisory firm of certified financial planner Steven Pomeranz, host of the radio show "On the Money," which appears on NPR, has been acquired by private wealth counseling firm United Capital Financial Advisers, the companies announced Wednesday.
Newport Beach, Calif.-based United Capital's addition of Steven L. Pomeranz Financial Management of Boca Raton, Fla., brings the acquiring firm's number of offices to 38 around the United States.
United Capital is a strategic acquirer, not a financial acquirer, of Pomeranz (left). As of April 1, United Capital and its affiliates had $14 billion in assets under advisement. Pomeranz is an advisory firm with approximately $200 million in assets under management and 140 family relationships.
In March, United Capital CEO Joe Duran appeared on Dylan Ratigan's MSNBC show to talk about his firm's free web-based behavioral finance application, the Money Mind Analyzer—an indication that United Capital's media expertise continues with the addition of the NPR host.
Pomeranz, president of his firm, has been in the advisory industry since 1981 and opened his firm in 1996. As the creator and host of "On the Money! with Steve Pomeranz," he appears on stations including WPBI and WLRN, public radio affiliates for South Florida and in four other states.
