Mary Brown, the lead plaintiff in the National Federation of Independent Business' challenge of President Barak Obama's health care law because she didn't have insurance and didn't want to be forced to buy it, filed for bankruptcy – $4,500 of which is unpaid medical bills. Mrs. Brown and her husband owe $55,000 in non-medical bills, which her lawyers attribute to the failure of her business. Lawyers for the Obama administration noted that the situation is a good example of the "uncompensated care that will ultimately be paid by others." "I never said medical insurance is not a necessity," Mrs. Brown says. "It should be anyone's right to [choose] what kind of health insurance they have."
