N.Y. Life Boasts New State Affairs Liaison

New York Life Insurance Company, America's largest mutual life insurer, announced today that the former director of the insurance division at the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance, Douglas A. Wheeler, has assumed the role of a vice president in New York Life Insurance Co.'s  office of  governmental affairs. He will be reporting to George Nichols III, the former Kentucky insurance regualtor who made a name for himself during the Gramm-Leach Bliley days of banking and insurance deregulation.  

Wheeler is responsible for overseeing all state government relations activities for New York Life. He replaces Gayle Yeomans, who retired from the company earlier this year.  

New York Life, the  nationan's largest mutual life insurer, noted Wheeler's role while regualtor of passing and implementing interstate compact legislation. Wheeler also hails from National Atlantic Holdings Corp. and the Proformance Insurance Co. He resides in Metuchen, N.J., and graduated from Seton Hall for law school.
