Our online article on "Social Security update: 2012 will see a COLA wash" got our readers fired up like few articles have…

We are older Americans but God loves us as much as he loves the senators. They vote themselves a raise every year that comes from the tax dollars that we older Americans worked for and we paid into Social Security our entire working years. The senators should have to live on Social Security and pay for their own medical insurance just like we do. We pay them to run the country and they fight among themselves all year long. They have brought our country to its lowest standard in history.
-Waymon Westcott

First of all, President Obama is a weakling. He caves in to whatever the Republicans tell him to do. How do they expect seniors to live without a Cost of Living Adjustment? We shouldn't have to choose whether to buy food or medication, especially, when they give tax breaks to the rich billionaires. Do any of the billionaires really need their checks? Let them give it away to charity. Four-hundred and 60 million dollars isn't enough for them? We have to live on $20,000 to 40,000 annually while they live it up and eat filet mignon. It is a very sad commentary when people have to live like this. Nobody fights for things anymore. You have to take matters into your own hands. Fire all those bums and get a whole new crew. The ones we have now stink, stink, stink.

What planet are you guys living on? No inflation for three years? Do you eat? Do you drive a car (gas and insurance)? Do you use medical services and supplies? Do you pay utilities for your home or apartment (gas, elec., water, etc.)? This "no inflation" mantra is the biggest scam pulled on seniors since the Fed dropped interest rates to zero and effectively robbed seniors of all their non-government benefit income.
-Rick Miesel

I get $780 a month. Please give us a raise. If we had a little more maybe we would increase spending. I have all I can do to keep up with my payments and it doesn't seem right. I have 14 grandchildren and would love to enjoy them.
-Janice Thom

Let's get realistic here. Both my husband and I receive Social Security. We cannot make ends meet any longer. Gas, utilities, food and not to mention health insurance and prescription costs have increased. Why do you people not see this? You can bet all those congressmen in Washington are not hurting. They get their raises and benefits. Hate mail? YES!
-Joyce Nowa

How can this government do this to us another year? Everything has gone up, even the food prices. We can't keep going this way. You should all be ashamed that you cannot take care of us, yet you can take care of other people around the world!
