MIB: Life Activity Continues to Rise

U.S. life insurers researched more requests for individual coverage in August than they did in August 2010.

The MIB Group Inc., Braintree, Mass., has published new life activity data in an analysis of U.S. life insurers' use of MIB databases to check individually underwritten life applications.

Overall U.S. activity volume increased 0.7% in August. Activity volume fell 1.2% for applicants ages 0 to 44, but it increased 0.4% for applicants ages 45 to 59.

Activity climbed 7.7%for applicants ages 60 and older.

In July, overall MIB application research activity was 2.1% higher than in July 2010.

The MIB activity index has been showing gains for 5 of the last 8 months, but activity for the year to date is 0.2% lower than it was for the comparable 8-month period in 2010.
