The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has picked Sharon Clark to be chair of the Market Regulation and Consumer Affairs Committee.
Clark, the Kentucky insurance commissioner, will fill a seat previously held by Jane Cline, the former West Virginia commissioner.
The NAIC's market regulation committee oversees collection of market data, market information systems, automated applications, and desk audits. It also manages examinations, interrogatories, investigations and other resources for monitoring market activities.
Committee priorities include facilitating interstate communications and coordinating joint state regulatory actions.
Clark now serves on the NAIC executive committee and is an officer for the NAIC's Southeastern Zone. She also is a member of the NAIC audit committee and an officer on the board of the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) board.
