The Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) Foundation has given its Quality of Life award to Kamal Daya, a Dallas agent who has made a difference in India.
The MDRT Foundation, Park Ridge, Ill., honored Daya, a native of Mumbai, for his work with the Fidai Educational Institution in Andheri West, a suburb of Mumbai.
The foundation also has given a $25,000 grant to Fidai. The grant is the first Quality of Life award grant that the foundation has to made to a charity based outside the United States.
Fidai runs two schools that serve a total of about 1,000 students in some of the poorest areas of Mumbai. Daya has helped Fidai build state-of-the-art language labs and stock the labs with hundreds of Hindi and Marathi-language books.
Daya, an agent with New York Life Insurance Company, New York, has supported Fidai together with his wife, Connie Daya.
