Ragatz to head ethics center

Ragatz The American College has named Julie A. Ragatz director of the Center for Ethics in Financial Services.

Ragatz joined the center in 2006 as a doctoral fellow and was later named the center's associate director. She has a master's degree in social and political philosophy from Marquette University and is finishing her Ph.D. in philosophy at Temple University.

In 2008, Ragatz designed and implemented an Ethical Issues in the Accounting Environment course for the masters of accounting program at Villanova University. She also teaches regularly at the American College's Richard D. Irwin Graduate School and has published numerous articles and book chapters on ethical theory and business ethics.

"All of us associated with the Center for Ethics in Financial Services at The American College are delighted to see Julie as the new director of the center," says James A. Mitchell, CLU, ChFC, chair of the center's advisory board. "We have seen the quality of Julie's work for the past five years. After conducting a national search, we realized that the best candidate was right here in our own backyard."

The Center for Ethics in Financial Services is the only academic ethics center in the country dedicated exclusively to studying issues affecting the financial services industry and consumers.
