National Underwriter Life & Health congratulates Frank Morizio Jr. as the winner of the Industry Elite Award for Best Rising Star.

Frank was nominated by Michael Perinelli, Agency Sales Director, MetLife, because he believes that Frank's story of perseverance and determination makes him a perfect model for other young industry practitioners.

Frank, who served in the U.S. Marine Corp. for five years before entering the world of life insurance, has had his share of professional ups and downs. After a promising start to his career–he qualified for MetLife's leadership conference within his first nine months, the success of his early sales endeavors began to wane as he experimented with different ways to find clients. For the next four years, Frank's sales were hovering around average and finances were tight for him and his wife.

At the end of his 6th year, an injury to his Achilles tendon disabled him for four months. Frank spent his downtime re-dedicating himself to his work, and upon returning, he immediately began to more than triple his previous year's production.

His successful return to sales opened the door for an opportunity in sales management, where he was able to apply his skills to recruitment and training. Frank later returned to personal production where he has continued to succeed. By 2010, Frank had reached his 5th MDRT qualification and his 1st MetLife President's conference.

Frank is also heavily involved in Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow Incorporated, a non-profit in the Brooklyn area that specializes in job training and placement for out-of-school youth and displaced adults. Frank has been on the board of directors since 2000, and he spent nine years as the chairman of the board.

Frank thanks Michael Perinelli who hired him and has been his mentor ever since. Frank credits his success to being a great relationship builder. "When there is uncertainty, people flock to advice from trusted sources," Morizio says. "If you've taken the necessary steps to build a relationship with your clients, you are the trusted source."
