The health insurance exchange program appears at least twice on the preliminary agenda of the upcoming summer meeting of the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL).
NCOIL, Troy, N.Y., is set to start the 4-day meeting July 14 in Newport, R.I.
NCOIL will be offering a symposium on health insurance exchanges July 14.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (PPACA) calls for states to set up a system of exchanges by 2014. The exchanges are supposed to help individuals and small groups by high-quality health coverage using a new health insurance purchase tax subsidy system.
PPACA is supposed to give states the flexibility to tailor exchanges to suit local needs.
One part of the NCOIL exchange symposium has the title, "Against the Clock: How are States Planning Their Health Exchanges?"
