The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) announced Wednesday that it has elected three new members to its national board.

The nominees, who were introduced to membership at the NAPFA National Conference in Salt Lake City on May 20 and elected on June 6, are veteran financial planners Linda Leitz, Anthony Ogorek and Giles Almond.

"We are most fortunate that Linda, Tony and Giles have made a commitment to donate time and energy to NAPFA," said NAPFA National Chairman Susan John in a statement. "Each brings a wealth of experience to the National Board. We have a number of ambitious projects scheduled over the next few years and their capabilities and commitment to NAPFA will benefit both the board and the membership."

Leitz, based in Colorado Springs, Colo., is a certified financial planner (CFP) who has been in the financial industry since 1979. She currently works as a volunteer instructor to new financial advisors with the Alliance of Cambridge Advisors, and has served on NAPFA's West Region board of directors and is past president of the Pikes Peak Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners.

Ogorek, based in Williamsville, N.Y., has been a CFP and registered investment advisor since 1983. He served as a financial analyst for National Public Radio's Buffalo, N.Y., affiliate, WBFO-FM 88.7, for 10 years. Worth Magazine has cited Ogorek as one of the 250 Best Financial Advisors in the United States, and he has appeared on Medical Economics magazine's list of 150 Best Advisers for Doctors. He has been published in Barron's, The New York Times, Mutual Fund News and The Buffalo News.

Almond, based in Charlotte, N.C., is a financial services veteran, certified public accountant and CFP who has spent the past three decades working with the Internal Revenue Service, national and local CPA firms, and as the owner of a fee-only financial planning and registered investment advisory firm he co-founded in 1990.

NAPFA, headquartered in Arlington Heights, Ill., is the country's leading professional association for fee-only financial advisors.
