The Obama administration has unveiled a new resource that provides information on the new benefits available to seniors following adoption of the Affordable Care Act. The online tool features a drop-down menu whereby a user can access a fact sheet of benefits available in a given state. Among the information provided are statistics on the number of Medicare beneficiaries in each state and the availability of free preventive care and cheaper prescription drugs for seniors falling into the "doughnut hole."
The site has a propagandistic air and includes a message from spokesperson Stephanie Cutter regarding the Republican Medicare plan, which would "undo this progress." "President Obama is committed to strengthening Medicare and building on the Affordable Care Act. As the new charts show, millions of seniors are already receiving better health care and paying less thanks to this landmark law — and, each year, these benefits will get even better," writes Cutter.
