New faces of tomorrow

I'm on my way to the LIMRA Distribution Conference in Orlando for the remainder of the week, where I'll immerse myself in a variety of discussions about what's happening right now (and what's on deck) in product creation and distribution.

"New Faces of Tomorrow" is the theme for the conference, being held at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek through Friday. The theme plays out with separate general sessions dealing with "new faces" in distribution, products and regulation.

Carriers are always working to bring innovative products to market that are responsive to current consumer demand. I'll be especially interested to see what the panel of product experts will say about how they are tackling the challenge of blending design, consumer expectations, the economic environment and investment strategies to successfully launch new products.

As far as breakout sessions are concerned, social media, regulatory reform, marketing to women and minorities, and various peeks into the future are popular topics throughout the program. Another session I plan to attend is titled "What Producers Value: Are Companies and Intermediaries Delivering?" This Friday morning breakout promises to cover how product, underwriting, compensation and other factors influence producers' decisions about what companies to contract with and where to place their business.

Attending industry conferences like this always leads to some great story ideas for upcoming issues of Life Insurance Selling, and I'm sure this week will be no exception. For more information about the 2011 LIMRA Distribution Conference, click here.
