State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company has given the American College $2.8 million to start a Center for Women and Financial Services.

The donation is the largest corporate gift the Bryn Mawr, Pa., financial services college has ever received.

The center will study American women as providers of financial services as well as consumers of financial services, the college says.

State Farm, Bloomington, Ill., established an academic chair in women and financial services at the college in 2007.
