It often seems as if the Internet has sped up the pace of business. In reality, consistent and steady action pays off online just as it does in traditional insurance marketing. "Slow and steady" still wins the race. If you want to succeed online, take a long-term view and you'll see long-term results.
To help you succeed online during the course of 2011, I've prepared a list of five monthly activities that will keep you on track to success:
1. Add a new piece of content to your site every month.
Make it a habit of adding at least one new page or piece of content to your Web site every month. This can be anything from information on a product to a useful resource to an educational article. Your site will consistently grow with time, giving your visitors a reason to come back and increasing the number of search keywords your site will be indexed for.
2. Collect e-mail addresses from prospects.
Even if you aren't actively using e-mail marketing yet, make sure you collect and save all of the e-mail addresses you've gathered each month. Just a few e-mails a month will quickly add up to a sizeable list. You'll see the benefits immediately in your e-mail marketing campaigns.
3. Link out to a partner.
Every month, add at least one partner or referral source to your site. Keep a "Recommended Resources" page on your site where you link out to accountants, attorneys, handymen and any other local business or service you use and recommend. Once you add the link, send them an e-mail telling them about it and asking if they can do the same.
