Large employers are trying to get more value out of workplace clinics, researchers say.

Many of the employers that have clinics are trying to have the clinics provide wellness services in addition to minor acute care, according to researchers at the Center for Studying Health System Change, Washington.

The researchers found that about one-fifth to one-third of large U.S. employers offer onsite or near-site clinics.

About 8% of U.S. families have at least one family member who has used a workplace clinic, and 4% have a family member who has used a workplace clinic in the past year, the researchers say.
