Didn't hit enough stores on Black Friday? Never fear, Cyber Monday is almost here. The shopping day that is growing to rival the day after Thanksgiving for the volume of sales it stimulates online will offer even more and better deals this year than last, with 88.2% of retailers planning on offering special promotions. According to the National Retail Federation (NRF), the deals will include one-day sales (41.2% of retailers plan to offer them), free shipping at 21.6% of retailers, and sales e-circulars (62.7% of retailers will send these e-mails to woo shoppers online).
According to Joan Broughton, interim executive director of Shop.org, "When Shop.org coined 'Cyber Monday' to illustrate the trend of people shopping online on the Monday after Thanksgiving, we never imagined it would become such a popular phrase in the retail dictionary." She added, "Today, Cyber Monday has become such a crucial component of the holiday season that many retailers—and shoppers—don't remember the holidays without it. And just when we think that Cyber Monday can't get any bigger, it does."
