Frank Keating is set to be the next president of the American Bankers Association (ABA).
Keating was president of the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI), Washington, from 2003 until the end of October.
Keating, a Republican, worked as an assistant secretary and general counsel at the U.S. Treasury Department and later as acting deputy secretary at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. From 1995 to 2003, he was governor of Oklahoma.
Keating will begin working for the ABA Dec. 1 and will succeed Ed Yingling, the current president, as ABA president Jan. 1, 2011, the ABA says.
