The federal HealthCare.gov Insurance Finder system now shows each health insurer's individual health applicant denial rate.
The system also gives the percentage of applicants charged higher premiums based on health status, according to officials at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
HHS developed the system to implement health insurance consumer information disclosure provisions in the Affordable Care Act, the legislative package that includes the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).
The goal of the site managers is to help consumers find information about all public and private sources of individual health coverage.
